Patrick O'Brian (given name: Richard Patrick Russ, 1914 - 2000) was the author of twenty books (and three chapters) detailing the naval and terrestrial exploits of Captain Jack Aubrey and Doctor Stephen Maturin, in a period from 1801 to 1815.
The Compendium's latest additions are:

- a tribute to the late Patrick Tull, who made the Aubrey/Maturin series come alive for so many of us. Patrick Tull died September 23, 2006.
- a note on Dean King's article 101 Crackerjack Sea Books in the July/August 2006 edition of Bookmarks magazine. See our Dean King page for more info.
